Izumi Rio Mini-Profile
Izumi used to be Meroko's co-partner, and Meroko was constantly clinging to him. When Meroko finally ditched him to fall in love with Takuto, Izumi realized how much he loved her, or so he supposed. Anyway, he became a shinigami at a very young age. In the anime, his past is never revealed (I don't think so, anyway...), but in the manga, the story is his father died and his mother beat him because Izumi looked like his dad. When the bruises didn't show, sometimes Izumi and his mother would go out together; shopping, eating, etc. One day when they did just that, and Izumi's mom was busy, Izumi went on the railroad tracks when the train was coming: on purpose. He did it so his mother would be happy again. Izumi is a very sadistic shinigami who feels like his only duty is to take the lives of others, and that it is a curse in every way. Meroko and Izumi have plentiful physical moments of lust, not love.
