IzumixMitsuki Corner
IzumixMitsuki is a wonderful canon couple. Even though they are not in love with each other, I think that if they spent more time together, they would've fallen for each other.Their interaction is so fun to read about. Mitsuki says something warm and caring, and then Izumi completely puts her down. It's unique and unlike any other relationship--they don't always agree, and they don't always argue.
Izumi trusts Mitsuki enough to open up to her and tell her about his past. He never did this with anyone else before, not even with Meroko, who he has been with for seven long years. He enjoys being with her and respects her decisions. He knew that her chasing after Eichi (dead guy) wasn't good, but he let her do it anyway, because he respects her decision. Also, he understands her feelings very well. He's the only person who understands her dark feelings about Eichi; no one else, not even Takuto (Mitsuki's supposed lover) could understand that.
Although Mitsuki doesn't seem to like Izumi as much as he likes her, this is not true. When she's around him, she matures. She stops talking incessantly about Eichi and saying random things. She too, understands Izumi well. She knows that Izumi is suffering when he asks her why those who commit suicide become shinigami, and she tries to allay his suffering. Like Izumi, Mitsuki respects him too. When Izumi acts like he wants to be alone, she starts to leave.
Izumi and Mitsuki make a pure couple. Their relationship isn't forced and seems quite natural. As they spend more time with each other, they become closer and closer. To me, this is the most interesting couple in the manga. Izumi and Mitsuki practically belong together.
